Abstract :
A slotless tubular linear generator (STLG) can be connected directly to renewable energy sources for generating electricity in a reciprocating force pattern with no extra mechanical cogging losses. This paper presents an analytical model for predicting the electromagnetic and electromechanical characteristics of a STLG, such that the preliminary operational performance of the STLG in potential applications can be conveniently evaluated. From the devised Bessel-based system model, both the unregulated and regulated generator outputs with and without power converter circuits included can then be thoroughly investigated. Experimental measurements obtained from a laboratory test-bed have also been provided to confirm the validity and adequacy of the proposed model for related performance assessments .
