Abstract :
Scientific and technological progress in superconductivity and cryogenics that has brought the use of superconductors to reduce the electrical power dissipation in power equipment closer to reality are briefly reviewed. Recently completed US programs and current foreign and US programs are described. A US development program to maintain leadership in the field is proposed
