Abstract :
Some recent parametric analyses conducted on a series of alternative baseline designs of 5-50-MVA pulsed AC generators with low-temperature-superconductor, high-temperature superconductor, and cryocooled windings are discussed with emphasis of the influence of operating temperature from liquid helium to liquid nitrogen coolant system design, conductor configuration, and consequent energy economics of the machine. These are related to the projected performance of a novel conductor concept presently under development
