Abstract :
Procedures for optimal symbol-by-symbol decoding of binary block codes and of those with a direct-sum structure are presented. These procedures use the fast Walsh-Hadamard transformation. The dimension of the Walsh-Hadamard basis is determined by the dimension of the code generator matrix or by the dimension of the generator matrix of the constituent codes
