Abstract :
WHEN, after only a brief stay in India, I write about Indian engineering education, it must be recognized that I do this only to address fellow engineers who have not had even that experience. Perhaps the brevity of my Indian experience will even help me to write in terms of the interest of the audience whom I address—I can so well remember what would have been new to me only two years ago. This introduction is, more than anything else, a disclaimer of my being, even remotely, an authority on the subject of which I write.
