Abstract :
The critical-current densities (Jc) of Ag-sheathed tapes of oxide superconductors were investigated using both the yttrium and bismuth systems. Using a press process for Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x, BiSrCaCu2 Ox, and Bi0.8Pb0.2SrCaCu2 Ox, increases in Jc were inconsistently observed. Jc showed an increase for Y 1Ba2Cu3O7-x but not for BiSrCaCu2Ox. The Bi0.8Pb0.2SrCaCu2Ox superconductor also showed increased Jc. The press processing improved the superconducting properties of Ag-sheathed wire not only for Jc but also for Tc. The authors obtained high Tc phase Tc(R=zero)=104 K and Jc=1850 A/cm2 for Bi0.8Pb0.2SrCaCu2O x superconductor
