Abstract
Some important issues remain to be better resolved before sensing technologies can be widely used in applications. For the reason, spectrum sensing is not selected as the mandatory solution for protection of primary users in current FCC regulations on usage of TV white space (TVWS). In this work, we introduce a sensing prototype for detection of Japanese digital TV signals. The prototype targets at fulfilling the strict FCC sensing requirement under reasonable interference. Moreover, efforts are made to improve physical features and cost-performance ratio. Computer simulation and hardware tests are conducted to evaluate performance of the sensing prototype under adjacent channel interference and co-channel interference. The results verify that the prototype has improved robustness for sensing under interference.
