Abstract :
THE MEASUREMENT of steep-front impulse waves presents problems seldom encountered in ordinary 1 1/2 × 40 microsecond impulse wave testing. The problem consists of obtaining linearly rising steep-front voltage oscillograms which faithfully reproduced, to a known scale, the voltage wave as seen by the test specimen. Stray or residual divider parameters, as well as the methods used in grounding, shielding, supplying power, and synchronizing the oscilloscope, may introduce spurious responses into the voltage oscillograms.
