Abstract :
As computing becomes more mobile, there´s an increased need to develop more ad vanced input tools and methods. Screens are smaller, cameras are more ubiquitous, and touch technology is everywhere. Yet entering text, choosing graphics entities, performing drag-and drop, and so on are still difficult. This month´s column describes new input modalities that add more options to researchers´ arsenals. Much of the technology I describe contains approaches first tried in desktop configurations. Mobility has ac celerated the pace of adoption and adds even more demands in terms of responsiveness, flexibility, and adaptability to an individuals.
