  • Abstract
Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is the self-governing network which consists of the mobile nodes connected through the wireless link and each node is end node along with functionality of the router which enables to send the data to other nodes. The nodes in the network are free to move and due to this reason it changes the position so frequently and they are free to move whenever and where they want. The main classes of the routing protocols are proactive and reactive. Proactive strategy of routing is also called the on demand routing which is the most popularly strategy for the wireless Ad-hoc network while reactive protocols are AODV, DSR which are based in the route discovery mechanism and create the route on the demand of the route. To measure the performance of the network, OPNET is use to make the comparative analysis between the proactive and reactive routing protocols for MANETs.
