Abstract :
Despite initial skepticism, there is a growing consensus that the broadcast industry needs to seriously consider the pros and cons of providing services for three-dimensional television (3D-TV). In addition to the two-dimensional visual cues of perspective, size, shading, texture, blur, etc., that are offered by standard television images, 3D-TV will provide stereoscopic depth information in the form of disparity signals from paired images for both stereoscopic and multiview autostereoscopic display systems.
