Abstract :
Space charge can greatly influence the electrical properties of insulating dielectrics. Our understanding of space charge, and our ability to control its accumulation in dielectrics, progressed slowly for many years, until reliable methods of measuring space charge profiles were developed. Nowadays, the injection of a packet-like space charge into a dielectric can be followed, and control of space charge accumulation by doping with suitable nanoparticle powders is possible.
