Abstract
In this paper we studied the possibility of utilization of interstitial applicators virtually organized in several configurations for the treatment of the breast cancer by microwave thermo ablation. The interstitial applicators used in this work are applicators of the helix type. The specified operating frequency considered for the here presented applicators is 2.45 GHz. For calculation of SAR and temperature characteristics created by these applicators a simulator of electromagnetic field SEMCAD X was used. In our simulations a model of the breast tissue that includes a sphere with tumor parameters inside was used. We concentrated on examining a distribution of SAR value in the area which has parameters equivalent to the breast tumor mainly.
