Abstract
This paper describes two power converter variable frequency operation of the Brushless Doubly Fed Reluctance Machine (BDFRM) with a ducted rotor and distributed stator windings. Basic background and control theories are discussed and an example design of the machine is presented for investigation. Predicted and simulated torque and power responses data is included to investigate the effectiveness of the two converter operation. A simple control approach to maximize the capability of a given design is presented.
