Abstract :
Singlemode output powers exceeding 165 mW (CW, 25°C) are demonstrated from 1550 nm DFB lasers designed for externally-modulated analogue and digital transmission. The devices have been incorporated into a commercial high-reliability fibre pigtailed butterfly module which offers output powers up to 40 mW, linewidth <1 MHz, and RIN <160 dB/Hz
