Abstract :
The authors report an improvement of the bandwidth-distance product of multimode fibre by up to 400%, achieved with a novel offset launch technique. This technique excites >60% of the fibre modes and is stable against environmental variations. Transmission of 2.5 Gbit/s over 3 km of 50 μm multimode fibre is demonstrated
