Abstract :
The telecommunications infrastructure required for an intelligent building to support the overall telecommunications utility is considered, focusing on the wiring system. Emerging national standards that embrace all components of the telecommunications infrastructure are described. Basic infrastructure concepts are explained, and component details are examined. Important links between the infrastructure components and the emerging national standards are shown.<>
