Abstract
This paper describes the fundamental principles underlying the use of magnetic models for degaussing research, and gives a short historical survey of the early use of models. It includes a description of the work done before the war, and in the early days of the war on a model of H.M.S. Curaçoa. The measurement technique and classification system of field components is discussed, followed by details of the work done on later models¿including a description of their construction. This work covers most aspects of degaussing as applied on the full scale, including the study of enemy methods.
