Abstract :
The paper outlines some of the economic problems facing this country, and defines that part of the problem which may reasonably be expected to become the responsibility of the electrical industry. Since the electrical industry is one of the great industries of this country, it will be called upon to play a considerable part in meeting the economic problems which lie ahead. The questions arise, What are these responsibilities; how can they best be discharged? The paper attempts to review in outline the basic economic problem and the contribution that might be made by the electrical industry. For the purpose of the paper the term ¿electrical industry¿ is taken as referring only to the manufacturing portion of the industry in all its branches. It does not include those portions concerned with electricity supply or contracting.
