Abstract :
A nine monopole antenna embedded in a dielectric cylinder mounted on a small ground plane has been designed for IEEE 802.11 applications. Two simultaneous beams are controlled electronically with a front-to-back ratio of 12 dB and 13% bandwidth. The dielectric reduced the footprint by 85% and the antenna volume by 91% compared to an array with similar functionality in air
