Abstract
The Solid State Transformer (SST) enables intelligent integration of renewable resources with the grid. The rectifier, grid tie inverter and black start modes of SST operation are discussed in this paper. A previous study [3], did a preliminary investigation of the black start capabilities of the SST. This paper further investigates the control structures and validates them through PSCAD simulations and with experimental results.
