Abstract
In the paper the problems linked to the choice of the reference magnetic quantity, when electromagnetic devices are supplied by non sinusoidal voltage is analyzed. In particular, the voltage waveforms produced by the two main converters, usually adopted in industrial applications, are taken into account. After a wide discussion the authors suggest the use of the first harmonic flux density peak as reference magnetic quantity
