Abstract :
By coincidence of timing in the editorial cycle, three of the papers in this issue relate to questions of productivity. A further coincidence is that two of them relate to technologies and industries other than electrical and electronic. Over the years we have had contributions from people in other industries which dealt with problems of a general enough nature to be relevant to those faced in managing Research, Development, and Engineering (R, D, & E) in the electrical and electronics industries — the main focus of the EMS members´ interest.
