    The Electrical Insulation Magazine (EIM) editors asked me during the 2009 Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP) to write an editorial, mainly on historical aspects of the conference and the Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS), because I have been involved with both organizations for a long time.
