Abstract :
In this paper, the current characteristics of the mono inverter dual parallel (MIDP) surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) drive system are analyzed and the control method for stable operation is proposed. While driving parallel connected two induction machines with a single inverter is not difficult thanks to the inherent slip, driving parallel connected synchronous machines suffers from the instability due to the absence of the slip. This paper analyzes the torque capability and the instability problem of the MIDP SPMSM drive system through the mathematical calculation. This paper also proposed the control method which can increase the stability and verified it with the experimental demonstration.
