Abstract :
THE ARTICLES in this “General” Issue-in contrast to some of the recent and in-preparation “Special” Issues-range across a wide front of the Management of Research, Development, and Engineering (RD&E) or the R&D/Innovation process. Most of them focus on management decision making involving the strategy and economics of RD&E. Although most engineering managers operate within a fairly circumscribed set of activities and tactics, it is important for them to be aware of the larger context in which their projects and programs are conducted.
