Abstract
The authors present an open magnetic shield of a new type consisting of ferromagnetic plates and rods connecting the plates. As the center is only partially surrounded by the shield, the shielded region is easily accessible. An example of this kind of shield is analyzed using a magnetostatic hybrid formulation, where only the magnetic structures need be modeled. They present how different parameters affect the performance of the shield. Ideally, this structure allows an infinite shielding factor at the center with a material of finite permeability
