Abstract
Meetings need not be boring or unproductive. In dispelling some myths about meetings, the author defines three general meeting types: educational, informational, and decision-making. Many meetings are not effective because it wasn´t clear which type was being conducted. When people understand the purpose of a particular meeting and recognize their roles, the chances of a successful meeting are increased. Responsibilities of the leader and the participants are offered as are suggestions on how to encourage constructive conflict.
