Abstract :
A novel modified split ring resonator (MSRR) cell with compact dimension, wide stopband and deep transmission zeros is proposed. A relative experimental formula is induced. Then, a novel lowpass filter is designed by cascading three MSRR cells. Large rejection through the entire W-band is obtained by carefully choosing three transmission zeros of MSRRs in the lower, the middle and the higher frequencies, respectively. A rejection level of more than 35.89 dB is achieved from 75 to 110 GHz. In contrast, a high-low impedance lowpass filter is optimally designed with similar dimensions, the largest rejection of which is only 23.56 dB. It is even less than the least rejection level of our proposed filter.
