Abstract
The existing EHV/UHV installations and principal network configurations in Europe and the Soviet Union are described, focusing on the gap between them. It is argued that this gap can be closed by proven techniques, resulting in a completely interconnected Eurasian power grid. The possibilities for energy exchange that would result and the resulting advantages are discussed.<>
