Abstract :
Undergraduates have been participating in exchange visits with European universities under the EU´s ERASMUS scheme for many years. This paper discusses changes that have resulted from its implementation under SOCRATES, the main impact being of finance for the sending institution. Problems such as the imbalance of inflow and outflow numbers have not been affected as they are mainly a result of the English language barrier. However, many features can be established to make the exchange as beneficial as possible for those students venturing onto the Continent. This paper discusses the links with Europe and the experience gained by Electrical Engineering at the University of Manchester operating these links for over 8 years
