This paper is a historical overview of the IEEE Reliability Society. It focuses on the formative years of the Society during its beginning as the Professional Group on Quality Control under the umbrella of the Institute of Radio Engineers. Details are given how, when and by whom the Group was formed, and the first efforts of its Administrative Committee during the formation year 35 years ago.
