Abstract
A methodology based on sequence networks for low-impedance fault location in power distribution systems is presented in this paper. A detailed analysis is proposed, to evaluate all possible fault distances and its corresponding fault resistances, to finally determine the faulted node that satisfies the proposed criterion. This calculation is held out using voltage and current measurements at the main power substation during prefault and fault steady states. The proposed method is validated using two power distribution systems for tests were the results show a good performance.
