Abstract :
It is my honor to write about Prof. Fumio Harashima’s outstanding contributions to mechatronics. I have observed his contributions as a student, a colleague, and a researcher. I joined his laboratory as a graduate student in 1982, and I knew he had already been established as a founder of power electronics. His background was in electrical engineering and control engineering, and he got his doctoral degree in the field of servomotor control.
