Abstract
Radar reflectivity Z and rain specific attenuation are normally assumed to be constant with height in radiowave propagation models for Earth-space communications. The authors analyse the vertical variation of these two parameters in stratiform and convective precipitation using data from the 3 GHz Chilbolton Advanced Meteorological Radar (CAMRa)
