Abstract :
The National Council of Teachers of English contests the trend toward basics and minimums in education and identifies the ways that the study of English contributes to knowledge, understanding, and skills. “English” includes the study of language and literature and the development of communication skills, namely, reading, writing, speaking, listening, and using media. Goals are identified in each category.
