Abstract
The authors investigate the optimum values for both the local oscillator (LO) modulation index and the Mach-Zehnder electrooptic bias point to maximize the dynamic range of optically amplified harmonic downconverting fiber-optic links. The results show that the maximum dynamic range is achieved when downconverting through the second harmonic of the LO driving signal.
