Abstract :
In this technical note, several issues of periodic and event-based impulse control for a class of second order stochastic systems are considered, including the optimal sampling and performance comparison. The procedures are provided to design the optimal sampling period for periodic sampling and optimal threshold for event based sampling. It is demonstrated that event-based impulse control outperforms periodic impulse control in terms of mean-square state variations, while both having the same average control rate.
