Title :
Compressing the design cycle: Cad and cae are crucial competitive tools, but honing them to maximum effectiveness is slow work karen fitzgerald associate editor
Abstract :
Consumer tastes change constantly, but car designs cannot. U.S. automakers now take five years to turn the concept for a new model into cars rolling off the production line. This is clearly a liability in a climate of intensifying competition; most Japanese carmakers have already trimmed their design cycles to three years.
