Abstract :
As chairman of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers´ Committee on the Environment, I see another side to the acid-precipitation issue presented in Glenn Zorpette´s “Weather outlook: acid rain or shine?” [March, p. 24]. The U.S. Clean Air Act is working. Its purpose was the establishment of primary and secondary national ambient air-quality standards to protect health and welfare, and develop emission-control limits for new and existing air-pollution sources.
