Abstract :
It was 1968, and most semiconductor manufacturers were busily mass-producing discrete bipolar components and medium-scale bipolar logic circuits. Bipolar semiconductors were functional and convenient and popular, and few IC companies wanted to take any risks with exotic and untried technologies.
