Abstract
A fibre optic system is proposed for transmitting both a wideband 400 Mbit/s NRZ signal and an additional smallband 20 kbit/s spread spectrum service channel placed around the wideband signal´s spectral zero. Using a simple electrically generated bipolar Gold-code, experimental results show a sensitivity improvement of 11 dB for the smallband signal as compared with a nonspread transmission
