Abstract
The ICT Carrier Programme is a DTI programme helping transfer information and communication technologies (ICT) into UK engineering industries, by driving business process, product and service innovation. For projects to be successful they must be carried out by a collaborative partnership, such as a number of engineering companies, an IT supplier or research organisation and a sectoral trade association. Participating in a project will enable your company or sector to identify how you could benefit from ICT and what relevant technologies are already available, before implementing your e-manufacturing solutions. For the suppliers of IT services, it provides them with not only an opportunity to identify markets where there is a need for their products and services, but also with a controlled environment in which to adapt and test their specialist technology before details are disseminated throughout the marketplace
