Abstract :
This paper describes the replacement of a static starting system at the US Bureau of Reclamation´s Mt. Elbert pumped-storage power plant, near Leadville, Colorado, USA. Problems with the previous static starter are described and design criteria for the replacement system are discussed. Installation issues and testing experience are included. Operating experience, training and manufacturer´s support are also discussed
