Abstract :
Mina S. Rees (aka Mrs. Leopold Brahdy) was born 2 Aug. 1902 in Cleveland, Ohio, and died 24 Oct. 1997 in New York City, USA. She was the director of the Mathematical Section of the Office of Naval Research who, in the 1??950s, used Navy resources to support the fledging computing community. She was the first woman president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Her life and work are briefly reviewed.
