Power and Energy … not only the name of our Society and of this publication but also a “hot button” topic in today´s world. With global attention firmly riveted on issues directly affecting our technologies and our industries, we stand at or near the epicenter of technical innovation and advancement in the 21st century. Are we—our profession, the industries we represent, and the academic institutions that nurture and support advancement—up to the task of meeting the enormous challenges that have been thrust upon us?
