Abstract
Diabetic retinopathy causes vision loss and blindness, which is one of serious eye diseases. For diagnosis, ophthalmologist uses a patient´s color retinal images obtained from digital fundus camera. Detection of an optical disc in the fundus images is important to not be confused with the symptoms of the disease similar to one another in terms of contrast, color and brightness. For this reason, on different color channels with the proposed approach noise reduction, edge enhancement, to determine the optic disc area with morphological approaches experimental studies were carried out.
