Abstract :
The paper is a record of the development of pulse-modulated transmitters leading up to the ground radar transmitters used by the Royal Air Force for the early warning, location and interception of enemy aircraft during the 1939¿1945 war. It describes the experimental work in the frequency band 10¿200 Mc/s and gives a detailed explanation of the circuits used in the mobile transmitters in this band known to those skilled in the art as M.B. (Mobile Base) and C.H.L./G.C.I. (Chain Home Low and Ground-Controlled Interception).
