Abstract :
The paper is based on the experience of the authors, and deals with both the mechanical and electrical considerations necessary in the design of precision standing-wave indicators of the slotted-section type. Although the note is essentially concerned with standing-wave indicators for rectangular waveguide propagating the H10 mode, many of the remarks will apply equally well to the construction of standing-wave indicators for either circular waveguide or air-filled coaxial line. The laboratory testing of standing-wave indicators is dealt with. A particular standing-wave indicator for work in the 10-cm wavelength band and another for the 3-cm band are described; photographs of them are included.
