Abstract :
One-dimensional equations for coupled in-plane extensional and flexural vibrations of a piezoelectric ring are derived. The equations are used to analyze a ring piezoelectric gyroscope. Free and forced vibration solutions are obtained. Resonant frequencies and voltage sensitivity as well as their dependence on rotation rate and other parameters are examined.
